This blog is going to be memories of a dear sweet dog that was more like a family member. We had to put him down yesterday but he lived a great life.
Buck loved to play with Racketballs. It was his all time favorite toy. We would be sitting in the TV room and throw the ball to the living room. He would go get it and bring it right back as fast as he could. He didn't give it to us without a fight. I have never seen a dog that has such a powerful jaw. He would not let go of the ball unless we faught for it. Sometimes it took three min just to get the ball away from him.
He loved tearing toys apart especially the squeeker toys. Often times there would be pieces of cotton around the house.
One year for christmas we got him a pack of racketballs. He had to figure out a way to get into them. He ended up getting into the racketballs by tearing the container they were in.
He did something funny with his food. He would never really eat by his food dish. He would grab a mouthful of food and then go to the carpet in the TV room and then proceed to eat it.
He loved going to lake powell with us. Eery hike we took he was always at the head of the group. He loved looking for lizards or any kind of animal. Sometimes he even got an animal. One time it was a frog. The frog let off some poison thing and Buck was foaming at the mouth. It was gross. One time at another lake he actually caught a lizard and he was NOT going to let of it. He had a tighter frip than with the ball. All you could see of the lizard was the tail and the feet. That must have been an adventure for that lizard. Bubba was trying so hard to get Buck to let go but nothing was doing the trick. I don't know what got him to let go but finally the poor lizard was free.
Another time at the lake Buck got sprayed by a skunk. That was an unpleasent night. We couldn't leave him outside so we had to keep him in the tent with us. That stink was almost too much to handle. We got through tht enight though. We tried to get him to smell better while at home but nothing worked. Tomato sause doesn't work and Tequilla doesn't work. They only thing Tequilla did was to get Buck drunk. Buck was bathed in Tequilla and he loved to drink it even though we tried to get him to not drink it.
There was another time at the lake that he had gotten into a whole bag peanut M&Ms. He was so so so sick. We though he was a gonner at that point. He was so lethargic and had his toungue sticking out. While Buck was in moms arms, mom grabbed his toungue. Normally Buck would pull his toungue back but not this time. Mom proceeded to pull his tongue out and it just kept going and going. Buck had a really long tongue and we wondered how it could all fit in his mouth. That was a funny time but not at the same time because he was so sick.
It is funny how a dog can capture your heart so much. I believe dogs go to heaven. I believe that dogs are mans best friends for a reason so why not have them in heaven?
