November 14, 2011

Funny story, we went to the nursing home on Monday and there are people who have dementia and all types of mind disorders and this one guy he walks past us with his head down and then he looks up all of a sudden and sees sister Ford first and immediately says, "Oh, your pretty." Then he looks and me and says, "And you are Gorgeous." haha. an old man flirting with us. Is that in the mission rules. :) I hit my toe on the metal part of the shower this week. It hurt and now I have a bruise on my toe. I have two awesome blisters on my hands from doing service for a lady. We raked her yard for her. There was a TON of leaves and we are not even done. I have never had to rake before so it is quite the experience. You get a good workout while doing it. On Wednesday we pretty much dropped everyone that was not progressing, investigators and less actives. So now we have tons of time to tract and it is kind of a daunting task. I am praying that people will want to listen to us. Hopefully we can get more people to teach. :) The one event that I can think of writing was a very scary event. It happened Saturday morning. I have been working on a puzzle that we have at the house (yes mom it is weird to do one while i am doing it and yes we have done this puzzle before). At 9:30 I was sitting down workin on the puzzle and all of sudden we hear footsteps outside and they come up to our door and they start banging on the door, then messed around with the mailbox, then banged on the door again, messed around with the door knob (the door was not locked due to our forgetting to lock it) and then the person banged on the door once again. While this was happening all I could do was to stare at the door and start praying that he won't come in. After a while of staring, I thought to grab the phone and the "dog spray" which is pepper spray. I was armed and ready to strike if the guy ended up coming in. The knocking stopped. The guy went away. My heart then started to pump so hard. I was very scared. but the fear stopped. I locked the door and everything was well the rest of the night. Yesterday, we get another knock on the door but it was friendly knock. I was still nervous to open the door on account of what happened the night before. I open it to John. John John John. He is quite the fellow. He had been in jail for the past two months. He is one of those people that everyone knows because he makes his presence known. He is a really nice fellow. The first thing he says to us, "I am sorry that I scared you the other night." I got so upset I think at him inside. He was the one that did that. I was not very pleased. But I am glad to know who it was and know that someone is not trying to get us. haha. It won't happen again...I hope. :) That is really all that happened this week. I am in Salem for my last transfer with Sister Ford. We will get more investigators this week. I hope you have a great week ahead. I love you all, Sister Amanda Ralph
